Working towards more accessible animal health services in developing countries
It is heartbreaking to see a family member fall ill, more so if we do not have the
means to get them treated.
Whether they are pets or ones that provide livelihood support, animals – for many
people – are family. And just the same for our two-legged loved ones, we also
want the best state of health and well-being for the animals we care for.
In many parts of the world though, this is neither a priority nor an option.
For poverty-stricken communities, it is easy to choose putting food on the table
over bringing the sick family dog to the vet. For a farmer suffering from poor harvests
the past years, updating vaccination for their buffalo, unfortunately, cannot be part of the
family budget. For a random passerby rescuing a stray cat after a road traffic
accident, having to pay for the subsequent vet bills is just disheartening – and discouraging
for them to do the same good deed again. In many countries, veterinary services remain to be a luxury.
Heal a Paw (HAPi) exists to make animal health services more accessible to animals and their people, whether within the bounds of a clinical facility or at community setting. We aim to harness the resources and expertise of volunteers and the generosity of institutional and individual donors to deliver free animal health services to indigent and farming communities, rescue groups and individuals, and animal welfare organizations in developing countries.

The HAPi Blueprint
The Blueprint is our five-year (2026-2030) strategic action plan to translate HAPi’s vision into reality. If we share the same commitment to improving animal health and championing animal welfare in general, we are happy to provide more information. Let’s explore how we can work together.
